Last updated: 24th April 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms & Relationship to Crimson and Indigo Research
Sciencefair.io is an educational platform operated in partnership by Crimson Education and Indigo Research (collectively, "the Partners"). By accessing or using sciencefair.io (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Service-Specific Terms, the Crimson Master Terms of Use, and any applicable Indigo Research conduct policies. If the user is under the age of 18, a parent or legal guardian must read and agree to these terms on the user's behalf.
2. Description of Service
Sciencefair.io is a premier mentoring service designed to assist students in preparing for science fairs and STEM competitions. Our services include:
Personalized Coaching: 1-on-1 sessions with experienced mentors. These sessions may be conducted directly by sciencefair.io or in collaboration with our partner, Indigo Research.
Project Frameworks: Guidance on discovery, category selection, and methodology.
Scientific Communication & Presentation: Specialized coaching to develop communication skills, including pitches, poster presentation techniques, and preparation for rigorous judge Q&A sessions.
Administrative Support: Assistance with understanding form requirements (e.g., Institutional Review Board and Scientific Review Committee approvals) and submission deadlines.
Educational Resources: Access to curated guides and templates.
3. Academic Integrity & User Responsibilities
As a user of sciencefair.io, you agree to the following standards:
Originality: All research, data collection, and final project submissions must be the original work of the student.
Role of Mentors: Mentors provide feedback and strategy. They will not conduct experiments, write final papers, or perform the work for the student.
Competition Rules: You are solely responsible for ensuring your project complies with the specific rules of your competition (e.g., ISEF, STS, etc.), including any required disclosures regarding external mentorship.
Use of Generative AI: Students must disclose any use of generative AI tools (including large language models, image generators, and automated coding assistants) in their research, written submissions, and presentations, and must comply with the AI disclosure and usage rules of their specific competition. Mentors will not use generative AI tools to produce research content, written submissions, data analysis, or any other deliverable on a student's behalf. AI tools may be used by students as a supplement to - but never a substitute for - original work, and any such use remains the student's responsibility to disclose and justify.
4. Safety Disclaimer
Sciencefair.io provides educational advice only. We do not provide physical supervision of experiments.
Students must perform all experimental work under the supervision of a qualified adult (parent, teacher, or lab supervisor).
The Partners (Crimson Education and Indigo Research) are not liable for any injuries, property damage, or legal issues resulting from the physical conduct of your research.
5. Paid Services & Refund Policy
Refunds: All sales are final. Refunds are granted solely at our discretion.
Expiration: Paid programs and coaching credits expire one calendar year from the date of purchase. It is the student’s responsibility to schedule sessions within this timeframe.
Cancellations: We require at least 24 hours' notice for rescheduling sessions. Failure to provide notice may result in the forfeiture of that session credit.
Partner Conduct: While using services fulfilled by Indigo Research or Crimson Education, you agree to abide by the specific conduct and scheduling policies of that Partner.
6. Intellectual Property
Our Content: All materials, templates, and curricula are the intellectual property of Partners or its licensors. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive license for personal, non-commercial use.
Your Research: You retain full ownership of your original research ideas, data, and final project outcomes.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sciencefair.io and the Partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or punitive damages—including, but not limited to, disqualification from competitions or failure to achieve specific awards—resulting from your use of the service.
Where liability cannot be excluded by law, the total aggregate liability of Sciencefair.io and the Partners arising out of or in connection with the Service shall not exceed the total fees actually paid by you to Sciencefair.io in the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. User Accounts & Prohibited Uses
Per the Crimson Master Terms, you must:
Use only one account and keep credentials confidential. Sharing logins is strictly prohibited.
Not engage in scraping, data mining, or any action that imposes an unreasonable load on our infrastructure.
9. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts in relation to any dispute arising under or in connection with these Terms.
10. Modifications & Contact
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Significant changes will be communicated via the email address associated with your account.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, and without limiting any non-excludable statutory guarantees, the Partners make no warranties or representations that: (a) the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure; (b) any specific mentor will remain available throughout your program; or (c) use of the Service will result in any particular competition outcome, award, ranking, academic admission, or scholarship. Any outcomes depend on factors beyond our control, including the student's own work, competition judging, and third-party decisions.
