2. National Merit Scholarship Another one of the awards outlined in Rishab Jain's FREE Scholarship Guide, the National Merit Scholarship is an award that students earn in their junior year of high school if they score within the top 1% of test-takers on the PSAT.

Although the exact score mandatory for qualification varies by state by year, a score in the high 1400s (out of 1520) is typically sufficient in order to qualify for the Semi-Finalist status.

Then, if you qualify as a National Merit Semi-Finalist, you may consequently apply for the position of Finalist in order to have a chance at gaining the actual scholarship funding.

In order to do so, you have to complete a National Merit Scholarship Application, including writing a personal essay, and show proof of a high GPA and a promising academic background.

Then, your high school principal needs to recommend you for the Finalist status, and you must ensure that you have taken the SAT or ACT and scored well on the exam by that point in your application.

Finally, your Selection Index Score is calculated, and about 7,500 students are chosen from the 16,000 initial semi-finalists to receive the scholarship.

The scholarship consists of $2500 presented to each winner, and goes towards the college of their choice.

4. Women at Microsoft Scholarship Oftentimes, being a woman trying to enter the world of STEM is difficult, and funding for post-secondary technological endeavors for this group of people is far more slender than it is for men.

That is why Microsoft created a scholarship in which they grant seven one-time awards of $5,000 to graduating high school seniors who self-identify as a woman or non-binary individual.

Some eligibility requirements for this scholarship include having at least a

3. 0 GPA and planning on enrolling in a STEM related field at an accredited university or college.

It should also be noted that if you are directly related to a Microsoft employee, you will be prohibited from applying for this scholarship due to conflict of interest.

5. Great Mind in Stem Scholarship Although not as prestigious as the others, this application is also far less competitive, with the $500-$1000 scholarship having another caveat besides the lower price range

- similar to the last award, this one specifically targets those who are of an underrepresented community (Hispanic descent) or have provided significant leadership and service to an underrepresented community.

Some other requirements include: Actively being in pursuit of a STEM degree after high school Having a GPA of

3. 0 or higher overall Being enrolled in a STEM program for the upcoming semester at an accredited university (Possibly) already being in college So if you're having trouble with many of the other STEM scholarships, then test your luck with this one!

You may just win, and it would be a great starting point for you to build off of.

Conclusion In this world of rising inflation where college and university costs are ever so high, scholarships are a wonderful way to raise some money for paying off those educational expenses early on.

This is especially true and fruitful for merit-based scholarships in the grueling world of STEM where such financial conquests can be difficult to summit.

We hope that this list can serve you well in your own education journey, without writing an essay, and wish you the best of luck in your applications!
