1. Carnegie Mellon’s Pre-College Computer Science Program Description: CS Scholars will take a deep dive into the world of computer science through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on research projects, faculty lectures, and industry engagement with leading tech companies around the country.

In the CS Scholars track, you can expect to learn algorithmic components (variables, functions, conditionals, and loops), basic data structures (lists and dictionaries), and problem-solving techniques in Python (algorithmic thinking, top-down design, testing, and debugging).

You will also have to take a math course to strengthen your computational skills.

2. DSI Summer Lab(Data Science Institute) @ UChicago Description: The Data Science Institute Summer Lab program is an immersive 8-week paid summer research program at the University of Chicago.

In the program, undergraduate students (and Chicago-area high school students) are paired with a data science mentor in various domains, including: computer science, data science, social science, climate and energy policy, public policy, materials science, and biomedical research.

Through this pairing the research assistant will engage with and hone their skills in research methodologies, practices, and teamwork.

We encourage participation from a broad range of students, and require no prior research experience to apply.

Clark Scholars Program @ Texas Tech University Description: The Anson L.

Clark Scholars Program is a highly selective, intensive, 7-week research program for 12 qualified juniors and seniors in high school.

The program enables participants to reside on campus and offers a stipend at the end of the program for the research project report.

Cost: None, Stipend of $750 Eligibility: Applicants must be at least 17 years of age by the program start date, and should graduate in 2024 or 2025 Must be a U.

4. Research Experience @ UCSB Summer Sessions Description: In this six week intensive program, students are paired with a mentor (either graduate student, post doc, or faculty) to take part in a specific research project.

5. Computer Science and Informatics Summer Research Experience Program Description: CSIRE is a summer program to provide opportunities for high school students to participate in research and motivate the students to pursue a career in the field.

The program is held jointly by the Department of Biomedical Informatics and the Department of Computer Science at Stony Brook University.

Each student will be working in a lab mentored by a faculty or a Ph.

D. student on a research project.

Students will also visit labs and attend seminars introducing cutting edge research in both computer science and informatics.

The students will present their work to their classmates and mentors during the middle and the end of the program.

Programming background is required.

Students will experience immersion in coding, powerful computer science concepts, collaborative programming, and problem-solving.

8. Data Science Summer Program @ Harvard University Description: In this 2-week introduction to machine learning, students will build a self-driving toy car.

The course starts with lectures on conceptual-level statistical learning, machine learning, and programming components.

Next, you will be introduced to various machine learning methods and algorithms and their applications in different fields, including biomedicine.

You also learn Python and implement the new concepts you’re learning and the classification algorithms you’re generating into programs.

Lunch includes conversations with machine learning experts who’ll share their views and experience with data science.

9. Women’s Technology Program Description: The MIT Women's Technology Program (WTP) is a rigorous four-week summer academic experience to introduce high school students to engineering through hands-on classes, labs, and team-based projects in the summer after 11th grade.

WTP is designed for students who are excited about learning, have demonstrated their ability to excel at math and science in their high school classes, and who have no prior background (or very little) in engineering, with few opportunities to explore these fields.

0. UPenn’s Summer Coding Camps Description: The summer Coding Academy is a 3-week residential introduction to front-end web development.

Students learn Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and JavaScript (JS) and discover how to put these tools together to produce useful and attractive web pages that run on any web-enabled desktop or mobile device.

Students also learn how to use GitHub to build code collaboratively.

Instructor-led demos and explanations followed by hands-on in-class student exercises reinforce key concepts for long-term retention.
