Every great science fair project starts the same way, with a question: Why do some plants grow faster than others? Could a cheaper filter clean dirty water? What makes one paper airplane fly farther than another?

Our coaches know from experience that the projects that go furthest usually begin with a question a student truly cares about. So we start with the things your child already wonders about. Together, we turn one of those questions into a project that is truly their own, at a pace that fits a middle schooler’s busy week.

Our coaches break a science project into four friendly steps, so your child always knows what comes next.

Our coaches break a science project into four friendly steps, so your child always knows what comes next.

1

Find the idea

Your child and their coach talk about what they’re curious about and pick a question worth exploring.

2

Build it together

The coach guides each part of the experiment or design, from planning to testing. Their coach helps them to think it through, but your child owns their own research.

3

Practice for the judges

In practice judging sessions, your child rehearses explaining the project and answering questions, so the real day feels familiar.

4

Show it off

Your child walks into their fair ready to tell the story of their project with confidence.

ScienceFair coaches have won at the highest levels of science competition, so they know exactly what it’s like to stand in front of the judges.

ScienceFair coaches have won at the highest levels of science competition, so they know exactly what it’s like to stand in front of the judges.

Our coaches include ISEF Grand Award winners, Regeneron Science Talent Search Finalists and JSHS winners, and they all started from where your child is now. And because they’ve been through it themselves, our coaches know how to make big steps feel small, explain tricky ideas in a way that clicks and turn judging day from scary into exciting.

My child has never done a science fair. Is ScienceFair a good fit?

Yes. Our middle school coaching is built for students starting from a blank page. We help your child find an idea first, then guide them one step at a time.

What if my child already has an idea?

Will the coach do the project for my child?

Do we need a lab or special equipment?

How much time will it take?
